Strengthening Our Tibetan Roots: Drong Monastery
For seven previous lifetimes, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, the abbot of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, has been born as the founder of Drong Monastery in Central Tibet. Historically, the monastery has been home to more than 500 monks and nuns.
During the Cultural Revolution, the monastery was destroyed. In recent years – with support from the local Tibetan community and from sponsors around the world – Drong Monastery has been almost completely rebuilt. Monks have returned to the monastery to serve the community and to help preserve the Dharma inside Tibet.
